Our Analysis
✅ All-around Solid Performance
Essentially, an all-around solid performance is what the AD333 is designed for. The AD333 is recognised for not having any significant drawbacks that would discourage golfers from using it. It’s renowned for being a relatively simple ball which produces a reliable performance. I observed this during testing, as there were no standout issues, which is not often the case with more budget friendly golf balls. The AD333 is a well-balanced blend of all the features a golfer would want for solid performance.
✅ Good Distance
Probably the aspect that I was most impressed with during our assessment. I didn’t anticipate the AD333 to perform so well off the tee, considering my driver’s club head speed is around 110 mph, I thought the AD333 would showcase excessive spin with a sub-optimally high launch. But to be honest this was not the case, the AD333 was travelling just as far (if not further) than other similarly priced options. The AD333 should perform at it’s best off the tee for golfers with slower swing speeds, but will generally deliver solid results for most golfers.
✅ Nice Feel
Despite being a reasonably priced, two-piece golf ball, the overall feel was quite impressive. It’s notably soft, especially around the greens, which is precisely what the average golfer generally prefers (including myself.) However, it’s essential to acknowledge that this feeling is impressive mainly when compared to other similarly priced alternatives. When stacked against more premium golf balls like the Callaway Chrome Soft or Titleist Pro V1, the feeling doesn’t quite compare. Nevertheless, it offers an excellent all-around feel for a relatively budget-friendly golf ball.
❌ Not Very Durable
One downside of the AD333 model is its durability. Towards the end of the assessment, I observed some scuff marks on the golf balls. While this isn’t a major problem and is expected with most two-piece golf balls, it would have been nice to see the AD333 last a bit longer before displaying these wear marks. I have also noticed in previous use with the AD333 that these balls tend to wear quite easily.
❌ Lacks Spin
Despite the soft feel, I noticed a lack of greenside spin with the AD333, especially with pitches from the fairway. Whilst there was a slight spin improvement when chipping around the green, I’d still consider this overall lack of spin a minor drawback. This drawback is not all that surprising, as two-piece golf balls typically offer less spin and control around the greens compared to 3-piece golf balls. This lack of spin is a common issue with cheaper golf balls, so in this case, it’s not a significant drawback when compared to similar golf balls. The reality is that most budget-friendly golf balls tend to lack spin when chipping and pitching around the greens.
Summary
Overall, a solid golf ball that pretty much anyone could use. The Srixon AD333 doesn’t come with any major drawbacks and performs well overall; its straightforward, 2-piece design has been effective for Srixon for a number of years. The only reason not to recommend this golf ball is if you aim to maximise a specific aspect of your golf game, such as driving distance or getting the most spin around the greens. In that case, this ball might not be the top recommendation since it lacks a standout feature—it’s just consistently very good with no significant downsides or standout benefits.
