This Srixon UltiSoft review will cover the pros and cons of this golf ball from my assessment. I also aim to provide straightforward insights on which golfers would benefit from using this golf ball and which golfers might find the Srixon UltiSoft less fitting.

Being Srixon’s lowest compression option with a compression of just 42, the UltiSoft certainly stands out. However, while it will benefit many golfers, it may not be the perfect fit for everyone.

Srixon UltiSoft Review

Pros āœ… Cons āŒ
Extremely Soft, Light Feel Less Distance for Faster Swings
Perfect For Slower Swings Could Provide More Greenside Spin
Offers a Stable Flight

āœ… Extremely Soft, Light Feel

The exceptionally soft feel of the UltiSoft was certainly an aspect of the golf ball which I was expecting, and it certainly delivered on this front. The UltiSoft boasts a compression of 42, which is exceptionally low. This means the UltiSoft is very easy to compress making it extremely soft and suitable to slower swing speeds.

The Srixon UltiSoft felt almost effortless to hit as a result of its soft nature. I would go as far as saying that it is the softest golf ball I have tested, even when compared to alternative, soft feeling golf balls like the Srixon Soft Feel or Titleist Tour Soft.

āœ… Perfect For Slower Swings

The low compression and incredibly soft feel of the Srixon UltiSoft makes it an ideal choice for golfers with slower swings. The low compression factor ensures that the ball is easy to compress, making it easier to facilitate a higher launch.

If your driver’s club head speed is under approximately 85 mph or if you generally carry the ball less than 190 to 200 yards off the tee (if you’re not sure what your club head speed is) ā€“ the Srixon UltiSoft could be a perfect fit for you.

āœ… Offers a Stable Flight

My club head speed with driver is between 110 and 112 mph. Before testing the UltiSoft, I was worried that the Srixon UltiSoft would produce a weak, unstable ball flight with my longer irons and driver, due to my relatively higher club head speed. However, I was pleasantly surprised, as I felt as though the UltiSoft provided a stable ball flight and still managed to hold its flight well in the air.

āŒ Less Distance for Faster Swings

Despite the decent stability of the golf ball I did certainly notice a lack of distance. Again, this is completely understandable because my club head speed is very much not optimal for this golf ball.Ā

As previously mentioned, if your club head speed is anything greater than 85 or 90 mph, then it’s likely that you won’t see the most optimal flights with the longer clubs because you’ll be compressing the ball too much.

āŒ Could Provide More Greenside Spin

The lack of greenside spin control was also expected. I’m yet to assess a golf ball which doesn’t contain a premium price tag, but still offers the same amount of greenside spin as a tour-level ball.
Nevertheless, the spin control provided by the UltiSoft was still more than playable, it just wasn’t comparable to the spin provided by more premium golf balls like the Srixon Z Star Diamond or Callaway Chrome Soft X for example.

Srixon UltiSoft Summary

To wrap up this Srixon UltiSoft review, let’s consider the kind of golfer who might benefit from this golf ball and those who might not find it as suitable.

This golf ball is designed for golfers with slower club head speeds that prioritise an extremely soft feel. The UltiSoft is perfect for golfers who struggle with compressing the golf ball, with driver swing speeds less than 85 to 90 mph.

Nevertheless, it has to be said that the Srixon UltiSoft is relatively expensive considering the lack of spin control that it provides. Srixon justify this price with its extremely low compression and suitability to golfers with slow swing speeds. However, there are alternatives at slightly lower prices like the Titleist Tru Feel or Callaway Supersoft which are probably better value for money in my opinion.Ā
