Welcome to our Srixon Z Star XV review. The Srixon Z star XV is one of Srixon’s premium golf balls, and is used on tour by many top golfers, including Hideki Matsuyama, Graeme McDowell and Sepp Straka. The Z Star XV is the most popular golf ball amongst golfers using Srixon on the PGA tour; mainly because of the golf balls suitability to golfers with faster club head speeds.

Pros ✅ | Cons ❌ |
Excellent Distance off the Tee | Not Optimal for Slower Swings |
Good Spin Control | |
Nice Soft Feel |
✅ Excellent Distance off the Tee
According to Srixon, the Z Star XV is designed to achieve a ‘mid-high’ flight and low spin when paired with a driver. During the assessment, I noticed the Srixon Z Star XV was suited to my club speed because I was hitting the ball around 6-7 yards further with driver and around 4 yards further with my iron shots compared to some alternative premium golf balls, including the regular Srixon Z Star and TaylorMade TP5.
✅ Good Spin Control
Although the Z Star XV is reported to have slightly less greenside spin control compared to the regular Z Star and Z Star Diamond, it still delivers more than adequate spin control. I did notice a slight decrease compared to the Z Star but found it to be on par with the Z Star Diamond with regards to spin control around the greens.
✅ Nice Soft Feel
While the Z Star XV isn’t quite as soft as the regular Z Star, it still provides a soft feel and delivers a premium feel that you’d expect from a tour-performing ball. Among Srixon’s premium golf balls, the Q Star Tour is the softest, followed by the Z Star, Z Star XV, and the Z Star Diamond. At first glance, it might seem like the Z Star XV is on the firmer side compared to other golf balls, but that’s not the case; it just isn’t the absolute softest option when compared to alternatives.
❌ Not Optimal for Slower Swings
Among all of Srixon’s golf balls, the Z Star XV stands out as the ideal choice for golfers with the fastest swings. While it’s undoubtedly a premium, tour-level golf ball, it’s worth mentioning that if your swing speed is below 95 – 100 mph, you might not fully optimise the possible performance of the Z Star XV off the tee. The ball is primarily designed for golfers with driver swing speeds exceeding 100 mph, equivalent to approximately a 220 to 230-yard carry with driver.

Srixon offer this golf ball in both white and yellow, and provide the ability to add various logos, images, flags and alignment aids in their customise option on the Srixon website.
Srixon Z Star XV Review – Summary
I would recommend this ball to golfers with faster club head speeds (ideally over 100 mph), who are seeking extra distance. In addition to the distance benefits, the Z Star XV provides a great soft feel, as well as solid spin control, and is an all-around premium golf ball. For golfers with slower club head speeds, there are other excellent options within the Srixon collection, such as the Srixon Q Star Tour and the regular Srixon Z Star, which will likely be more suitable.
