Our Analysis
✅ Immense Short Game Spin
Golfers often highlight the Pro V1X’s remarkable spin control around the greens as a standout feature. In my comparisons of spin control among various premium golf balls, the Pro V1X consistently outperformed others, particularly generating lots of spin on chips and small pitches. While the Pro V1X is known for producing slightly more spin than the Pro V1, the difference was subtle during my assessment, as I observed the Pro V1X gripping just a bit more on the second bounce compared to the Pro V1.
✅ Extra Distance
The additional spin that the Pro V1X provides was also observed with driver and iron shots, producing a higher launch and higher spinning ball flight. Many golfers have mentioned that this combination of a higher launch and a slightly firmer feel has contributed to increased distance on their drives and other iron shots in most situations.
✅ High Launching
As previously mentioned, the Pro V1X is designed to produce a higher launch with driver, which is beneficial to many golfers in optimising both flight and distance. If you are somebody who lacks distance due to a lack of height, then the Titleist Pro V1X is certainly an option worth considering.
Personally, this feature doesn’t really match my playing style since I tend to hit the golf ball too high and spin it excessively off the tee. Among Titleist premium golf balls, the Pro V1X ranks as the highest spinning and launching, followed by the Pro V1, while the Titleist AVX offers the lowest flight and spin.
❌ Slightly Firmer Feel
It’s difficult to label a ‘slightly firmer feel’ as a negative feature of the golf ball as many golfers do actually just prefer a firmer feel. I know that personally I prefer the softer feel of the Pro V1 or AVX, and I know that the general consensus among golfers is that a softer feel is usually preferred. However, it’s worth noting that for many golfers, a firmer feel could be seen as an advantage. It’s just about finding what you prefer.
❌ Very Expensive
The Pro V1X and Pro V1 golf balls are one of the most expensive balls on the market at £50 / dozen. I suppose this is justified considering the amount of professional golfers using these balls, and its fair to say that with all characteristics considered, they probably are the best golf balls on the market. However, if you’re budget-conscious, there are excellent alternatives like the Callaway Chrome Soft or Srixon Q Star Tour that offer premium quality at nearly half the price.
