Welcome to our Titleist Tour Soft Review. The Titleist Tour Soft is known for it’s soft feel and quality all-around performance. This review will cover the pros and cons of this golf ball, offering essential insights to help determine the type of golfer it caters to and those for whom it may not be the best fit for you, and to help improve your overall golfing game.
I found that the Titleist Tour Soft provided a consistent soft feel during my evaluation. While it didn’t quite compare with the feeling of more premium, expensive golf balls like the Titleist Pro V1 or AVX, I did personally slightly prefer the feeling of the Tour Soft to the Titleist Tru Feel.
✅ Great Distance
I was pleasantly surprised by the solid distance the Tour Soft provided, especially considering its relatively lower price for a soft golf ball.
When comparing it to other golf balls in a similar price range, like the Srixon Q Star Tour and Callaway Supersoft, the Tour Soft matched the distance I achieved with the Supersoft, and surpassed the Q Star Tour by approximately 5 yards with both the driver and longer irons.
It’s worth noting that my club head speed is with driver is approximately 112 mph, and so other golfers with slower swing speeds may find they get alternative results. For example, if your club head speed is significantly slower then it’s more likely that you’d have more success with the Q Star Tour than I did with regards to distance.
✅ Good Durability
The durability of the Titleist Tour Soft is a feature I’ve learned about through valuable feedback from fellow golfers who have used it extensively. Generally, users have expressed admiration for the ball’s durability after playing multiple rounds. While I haven’t personally tested the Tour Soft over several rounds, the positive experiences shared by others highlight its notable resilience.
❌ Visually Not Very Premium
There is something visually different about using a premium, tour level golf ball like the TaylorMade TP5, or Titleist Pro V1X. I felt as though the Tour Soft was just a bit too glossy, and it just didn’t give me this same premium appearance.
I also felt that the ‘T’ shaped writing on the side of the golf ball was a bit off-putting to putt with. Personally, I prefer a simple straight line for alignment when I’m on the green.
❌ Could Provide More Greenside Spin
The lack of greenside spin control is understandable. I’m yet to use a golf ball which doesn’t have a premium price tag, but still offers the same amount of greenside spin as a tour-level ball.
Nevertheless, the spin control provided by the Tour Soft wasn’t terrible and it was still more than playable, it just doesn’t offer as much as some as Titleist’s more premium alternatives.
To wrap up this Titleist Tour Soft review, let’s consider the kind of golfer who might benefit from this golf ball and those who might not find it as suitable.
This golf ball is designed for golfers who prioritise a soft feel, whilst not having to compromise on distance off the tee.
However, for golfers looking for a golf ball within a similar price range who aren’t as keen on the soft feeling provided by the Tour Soft, there are other golf balls like the Titleist Velocity or Callaway Superhot Bold which offer firmer feels, along with the potential for extra distance.
